Merry Christmas! Hi I am new to the club and wanted to see if there are any Newfs that need a home. I am in Newotown Pa. About 45 minutes from Philly. I have loved These big sweet dogs for years and think I am now ready to give one a home. I have a 8 year old Saint Bernard and a 12 year old Lab and they both want a new member of the family. I was wondering if anyone can help me out and tell me what I need to do to get in touch with someone in my area. My e-mail address is h2ologed@yahoo.com Can't wait to hear form someone soon!

Hi Annabelle~~~Newfies are quite sensitive to the heat so please keep them in a cool home. We have had two and they basically go out to enjoy a walk and then head straight into our home during the hot months. During the cooler months they do love the shaded porch, dock area, grass/dirt. When you take them to a groomer they can advise you about your dogs particular coat. I keep Ladies shorter in late spring/summer and then just let it grow thru November.....I am pretty sure someone from the club can teach you how to best trim her if you need help. (I am NOT good and cutting any dog or human hair!!! ahaahaahahahahah)

Hi Everyone...I am new to the club but so happy to be here. My husband and I lost our two Newfie's within one month of each other last April and May. Molly was a Landseer who passed at 12.5 yrs young with heart failure. Baron (Bear) lasted about three weeks before passing at 13.5 yrs young due to what our vet could only diagnose as a broken heart. It has been really tough not having them here even with our 3.5 yr old daughter and 16 month old son. We miss having our drooling 125lb lap dogs and are interested in adopting or finding an available newf litter. Anyone out there have any good recommendations? We are in the Valdosta, GA area. Thanks!

Hello, Everyone! I live in Seattle and JUST got a rescue Landseer puppy two months ago. No big surprise to all of you, she is an angel and the entire family is thoroughly taken with her! We've decided to move back to SW Florida and I'm wondering how the Newfies do in the heat? Do they get trimmed back or is their coat fine in the heat and humidity? What about the water moccasins? My dachshund was snatched by a gator many years ago in J'ville and I'd like to hear what reassurances you can give me, please?
I couldn't bear it if anything happened to Annabelle. Thanks!

So Willow has finally gone into heat. You guys didn't tell me it was going to be so messy, lol.. just saying:) Does anyone know how long on average that she should bleed for? In 1 day she has gone through a 12 pack of diapers, and a full bottle of carpet cleaner, haha.

Hi Sheila and welcome to the club. Congratulations on your decision to add a Newf to your family. My wife and I are owned by two 4 year olds and we love them dearly and recommend the breed as the most gentle dogs we have ever known. We have two grandsons, 2 and 8 years old , and have never worried the least bit having them around the dogs. I am sorry to hear about your chow mix. We had 3 chows in the family, the last one passed away 6 years ago at 15 years old.. we loved them alot but never were too comfortable when strangers tried to get too close. Dont know where you are located but there is an event in Clearwater on the 12th (see the flyer) where you could meet some members and their Newfs. Bruce Meligan

Julie I am just north of you in Webster. Were you by any chance able to make it to the fun day? If you did please refresh my memory!shy(it was a very busy day) and if not and you would like to visit just let me know. I do have an older girl that is looking for a wonderful "retirement" home and I will be doing a breeding later this year. I do know there are other FL breeders that will be having litters too.

Julie~~ You sound like you may be interested in adopting a newfie! Please check our list of dogs presently in RESCUE....See their photos/stories in the Rescue section in tool bar above. We just got our newfie Lady and it was a very easy, happy experience for our whole family. The club is very helpful in answering questions throughout the adoption process and afterwards too. The foster families care and train the dogs so they will be easy to join your family. Also in the tool bar you will find an application/simple to complete when your family is ready to proceed with adopting. Hope this helps--Jan

Hello - I live in the Tampa Bay area and am having a hard time finding a Newfoundland puppy. We've recently lost our last of 3 dogs year to cancer (ages 8, 16, and 13 years). I have fallen in love with the Newfie's disposition, temperment, etc and feel he/she would be an excellent companion not only to myself and my husband but also to my 2 year old son. We have a huge yard, pool and the dog would be primarily an inside dog with open access to the outside . If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Julie
