warning to breeders and puppy purchasers and Rescue Chairpersons alike

I just had a phone call from a man in Largo, FL. He has a female less than 2 years old and admits he is "new at this" but wants a stud service for his girl. Please note that he is NOT at all interested in any sort of education a breeder may need but he simply wants to breed his Newfoundland.
This is a warning to stud owners, puppy purchasers and rescue workers alike. A potential puppy mill at worst and uneducated backyard breeder at best is in our midst here in FL. The chances of his having a healthy girl of a type which would contribute to the betterment of the breed is slim, given the lack of education about the breed, protocols, health clearances, and when I spoke to him about showing his dog, to have an expert opinion as to the fitness and breed type of his Newfoundland he wanted to know, "Show my Newfoundland what?"
Any potential puppy purchaser who thinks they will get a knowledgable mentorship from someone who has no idea what they are doing and doesn't care to learn. will be in for a rough time when they need the support of a reputable breeer. The chance of a puppy produced by such an individual ending up in rescue is astronomical. If anyone would like more specific info about this man contact me privately.
Mickey Sterling
Conchshell Newfoundlands

Relocating to Fl

We are in the process of looking to buy into either Naples or Vero Beach areas. Currently we have a four year old Newf called Big and are waiting to pick up his new sister in three weeks. Our concern is the heat. We were delighted to find out that NEWFFLA exists so I surmise that Newfs are alive and prospering in FL. We just returned from FL where it was hot and humid. What is the trick to acclimatizing Newfs to the weather conditions year round in Fl. Thanks!

We need help finding a home, farm ?? to keep our 2 furry family members this winter. We bought a condo in Broward, and of course they don't allow pets. We'd be around almost daily to visit. We'd provide food and some $$ too. We have a 7 yr old male newfie - Moose loved by everyone, and a 4 yr old female Karelian Bear Dog - Katie (45lbs). We moved back to help out with our new granddaughter. Any suggestions? They both love horses too!!
