The editor of the Newf-FLA Paw Prints Newsletter needs you!

The economy has hit all of us in ways profound and mundane. I would like to ask everyone to send an email to editor@newffla.com and tell me about the ways that this economic situation has forced you to reduce or reallocate the money spent on your dogs' food, toys, incidentals, comptetition in conformation, obedience - or any activity that you normally would do that you no longer do because it has gotten too expensive. I would also love ideas if you have found creative solutions to the lack of money that you would like to share.

Please submit your thoughts, ideas and solutions by 8/15/2010. I will compile and edit what I gather, and present it as a feature for the next edition of the Paw Prints newsletter. Let's share some ideas on how to have fun with your Newf and save money!

It will be at the Days Inn Historic in St. Augustine, our new host hotel. The hotel is blocking a small amount of rooms for our members on that weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) at the price we will pay at parade time, which will be $65 a night plus a $10 pet fee per night per dog. If you would like to come and help with the planning and check out our new location, we would love to have you.

The hotel is located at 1300 Ponce de Leon Blvd. (US-1) about 1 mile south of SR 16. You can call for reservations at 904-824-3383 and be sure to tell them you are with the Newfoundland Club of Florida.

If you are not a club member, you are still welcome to attend the meeting and get to know everyone. For more information, you can call me at 904-737-7337.

April draft test is coming soon, April 17th & 18th at the Lawson's in Alachua.

We're thinking about maybe having a practice in south Florida March 20th. Let George know if anyone is interested. March 27th there will be practice at Eagle Farms in Riverview. There will also be our annual club meeting that night at Giodannos in Brandon. Sunday is the Droolapaloosa so people traveling distances can schedule to attend both events. On April 10th there will be a practice at the Lawson's to get site ready for the test.

The test is the next weekend. As always everybody is invited to come out even if not testing. This is a good time to learn about draft work. We also need help on test weekend to put this event on. Call or e-mail George with any questions.

The event will be filled with doggy activities, including contests, training, vendors, demonstrations, music and a dog bone hunt. This is a wonderful event hosted by Lew Hall of Droolapaloosa AND Christmas Auction fame. Just remember that all proceeds go to Newfoundland Rescue and that if you are bringing a dog it is representing the breed so have them in glowing condition. Watch the countdown for upcoming events (on the right) as a reminder.
