UPDATE 07-14-2009
Mobbie has been adopted and seems to be settling into his new home. Here is a letter from his new owner...

I just think he is so handsome and sweet, i am not letting myself feel sorry for him, when we walk i could swear there is a pot belly pig at the end as he grunts as he walks, giving him the meds is easy thanks to pill pockets. he lays near me always and slept at the end of the bed for a while last night. i promise to all he will lose weight and with meds have more energy. and get rid of the hot spots i do love him. thanks for everyones help in getting him to me. I could not be happier. I do finally have my Newf.

Mobbie is a gentle, quiet, well trained adult Newfoundland that was left in a 'night box' outside a local animal shelter, so we don't have a lot of information about him. He is between 3 and 5 years old, is a little overweight at 140 lbs., and is neutered; heartworm negative, up to date on all his shots, and has had a health check. He is very well behaved around children, dogs and other domestic animals. He can sit and will shake hands on command.

Mobbie needs a new home. He has obviously been someone's pet and needs to be someone's special dog again. He has very unusual coloring, being a Landseer with a lot of ticking on his legs, and he is in very good shape. Mobbie is fostered in Jacksonville and you should be willing to go there to meet and adopt him. Please consider adopting Mobbie. He deserves a new start in a good home.
