Events & Meetings

Most years, NEWFFLA will participate in 5 or 6 outside events held by service clubs, churches, and larger rescue organizations. Each features booths with pet themed vendors and various rescue groups which might bring everything from dogs and cats, to reptiles, pigs and skunks.

Size and attendance vary from the 40 or 50 dedicated followers who come out each year for the Pet Blessing and Festival in the little parking lot of St Clements Church in Tampa to the 4,000 or 5,000 that can be counted on to support Suncoast Animal League's Dogtoberfest which sprawls across several acres at Dunedin's Highlander Park every November. All Newfies and their people are invited to come visit our booths or to even bring a chair and spend the day helping to answer questions and educate the public about our Gentle Giants. The Newfs are great crowd pleasers and many of the folks come around year after year to see their favorites.

NEWFFLA also hosts several club events each year for members and non-members alike. Newfies and Friends Beach Day is held on the Saturday before Memorial Day each year at Pinellas County's Ft Desoto Park Pet Beach in St Petersburg. Everyone is welcome to come join us and bring their dogs of any description to enjoy a day of surf, sun and sand. An east coast beach days is also held with dates and location varying. Other events include Droolapoloza, working dog and grooming seminars and the participation in the St. Augustine Christmas Parade.
